Leontios Toumpouris

Leontios Toumpouris (b. Nicosia, 1982) is an artist and educator based in Nicosia, Cyprus. He graduated from the Painting Department of the Athens School of Fine Arts in 2009 and earned an MLitt in Sculpture from the Glasgow School of Art in 2016.

Drawing from organic structures, traditions of representation, autobiography and discursive practices, Toumpouris invents observational strategies to make work that refers to correlations between matter, body and land. His work unfolds in bodies and series that span sculpture, site-responsive installations, text, sound, moving image, drawing, and performative gestures.

Toumpouris has been awarded grants by the Deputy Ministry of Culture Cyprus (2025, 2024), Glasgow Connected Arts Network (2020), Creative Scotland (2020), the Eaton Fund (2018), the Hope Scott Trust (2017) and the AG Leventis Foundation (2015) amongst others.

He is an Associate Teaching Staff at the Fine Art Department of the University of Nicosia.
